Founded in 2021 by Finnish-born artist and surfer Arlene Glyn-Jones (née Lukkarinen) and surfer and cold-water immersion enthusiast Sam Glyn-Jones, The Saltwater Sauna delivers award-winning sauna bathing experiences and guided rituals across three locations on England’s South Coast.
The concept grew out of Sam Glyn-Jones’ community surf and wellness initiative, Resurface—a peer-support programme that brought together surfing, yoga, social connection, and cold-water therapy to support local wellbeing.
From the beginning, the pair partnered with Heartwood, launching a crowdfunding campaign to finance their first mobile sauna at Sandbanks Beach. Demand quickly surpassed expectations, leading Arlene and Sam to run the business full time, expand the original site, and establish two additional locations like this one at Lulworth Cove.
